Haarsh Limbachiyaa and Bharti Singh are one of the most loved couples in tinsel town. They recently appeared on Angad Bedi and Neha Dhupia's fun show and spoke about their relationship.. The couple opened up about the challenges they faced in their personal and professional lives. While Haarsh spoke candidly about feeling insecure due to Bharti's immense success, the comedian reflected on growing up around casual body shaming and how she learned to deal with it over the years.
During a conversation with Neha Dhupia, Haarsh opened up about writers being ignored and admitted that there were judgments against him because Bharti was more successful. "Yes, it was there, a lot. If you are marrying a girl⦠and society says that the man should be more successful than the woman. No one has an issue with that. But when a woman is more successful than the man, this is strange for them," he expressed.
Haarsh continued, "I also used to feel a bit uncomfortable earlier, but I then felt that I don't have to do anything, just keep making my work better and grow. I was getting paid really well as a writer. I still ventured into production because being a producer meant that I would at least reach her level a bit. At least something would happen. Then, I started creative direction. I almost wrote and created the show Comedy Nights Bachao. After that, I gained the confidence that I can also do something."
In an honest and emotional conversation, Bharti reflected on how casual body shaming was normalised in the environment she grew up in. She admitted that even her mother would often tell her, "Bas kar, kitna khayegi, moti ho jayegi," as a casual remark while she was growing up.
She further added, "When I came to Bombay, I was told that fat jokes shouldn't be cracked because it's body shaming. I thought, which world have I come to? Will I have to think before speaking? So, I did not tell anyone, nor did I let anyone speak. I started making jokes on myself, that yes, I am fat from eating too much, and I have no shame in this."
For the uninitiated, Bharti Singh welcomed her second son, Yashveer, in December last year. Talking about Bharti and Haarsh, the couple tied the knot in December 2017 after dating for several years. Their older son, Laksh, was born in April 2023.
