Fans of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari have reason to celebrate, as their upcoming action entertainer Alpha will now hit cinemas a week earlier than planned. The film has been advanced from July 10 to July 3 after Dhamaal 4 shifted its release to July 17. "With no major release planned for July 3, producer Aditya Chopra felt it was the right date," a source said. A trade expert added that the move gives Alpha "two weeks to make the most of an open run". The YRF Spy Universe film also stars Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has confirmed that work on Kaante 2, the sequel to Kaante (2002), is underway, marking a possible reunion with longtime collaborator Sanjay Dutt. The director said that Sanjay had been "grossly wasted" by filmmakers who failed to understand his strengths, adding, "He can still carry a film on his shoulders."
