Hrithik recently turned singer for one song in Kites. It's the first time he has sung for a film so no wonder, he was very nervous.

Anurag Basu, the director of Kites, was keen that Hrithik sing the song as it would lend more authenticity to the film. Hrithik had no choice but to do it. He rehearsed the song and did the alaaps for several days before he recorded the scratch version. From the time he woke up in the morning, he would borrow his niece's music keyboard and rehearse the song. When the time came to record, he was so nervous he could not get the notes right. Finally, he ordered all the lights in the studio to be switched off. When the whole studio was dark, he gave a perfect rendition.

Anurag and the others loved the scratch so much that they decided against recording another version.
