Earlier this week, we reported that Shraddha Kapoor would play the female lead in Ashneer Grover's biopic, with Aamir Khan reportedly stepping into the role of the BharatPe co-founder and entrepreneur (Pati, patni aur financial woe, April 20). Now, another name has begun doing the rounds. Insiders have told mid-day that Imran Khan recently underwent a look test for the project, which will be helmed by Rahul Mody and backed by Aamir Khan Productions.
Apparently, the makers have yet to lock the principal cast, with Kapoor being the only actor finalised at this stage. An insider revealed, "Imran did a look test recently, and the makers were quite impressed with how he fit into the film's world. His presence definitely makes the cast interesting."
It remains unclear as to which character he auditioned for. "His role is pivotal to the story. It's not a cameo," added the insider. Currently in the scripting and pre-production stage, the biopic is expected to chronicle Grover's rise in the start-up ecosystem, his stint in the public eye, and the controversies that followed.
