Following Royal Challengers Bangalore's second consecutive win at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, many of the team's fans celebrated the victory. Among them was Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, who is known to be a vocal supporter of the IPL franchise and Virat Kohli. However, her celebratory post has taken a controversial turn after it raised eyebrows over the background sounds.
Throughout the IPL final clash between the Gujarat Titans and RCB, the actress was actively sharing updates and her excitement on her Instagram stories on Sunday, May 31. After the team's win, Nushrratt seemingly posted a video of the winning moment, where the players were seen celebrating on the screen, while fireworks lit up the stadium.
However, what raised eyebrows about the story was the background sounds, which many believed were moaning sounds, while others defended the actress, saying it could be dog sounds. Nevertheless, the actress deleted the story soon after, but it was too late. Netizens recorded the story and have been circulating it on social media ever since.
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), as well as on Reddit, where netizens had polarised opinions about the video. A user on Reddit shared the video, questioning, "What was going on in the background?" Many users replied on the thread sharing their views.
Many expressed their disbelief, with one user commenting, "Pls tell me if this is a joke." One user explained, "Somebody's moaning in the background most likely not Nushrat"
Meanwhile, many others came in defence of Nushrratt, noting that it was the sound of a dog whimpering and not moaning. One user explained, "This is very common sound that dogs make listening to fireworks. My dog also made such whimpering sounds yesterday because of the heavy, continuous fireworks outside when RCB won. Seeing the TV, its the winning moment must be fireworks outside and its a Dog definitely.(sic)"
Another user commented, "sounds like a dog whimpering more than anything else esp with the way it was shushed (sic)"
Dogs are usually known to whimper to communicate needs like excitement, stress, anxiety, or a warning sign of pain or discomfort. The whimpering of dogs usually sounds like a high-pitched, soft, or sometimes squeaky crying noise.
