Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, actor Anupam Kher among others say justice has finally prevailed in the 7/11 train blasts case, after a special court today awarded death sentence to five convicts and life imprisonment to seven others.

The massive blasts in the metropolis's lifeline local trains on the Western line had rocked the city on July 11, 2006 that claimed 189 lives, left over 800 injured and gave people wounds that might never heal.

Calling the judgement "a little late", Kher said ,"The justice has been delivered though a little late. I think a fair trial was given, and hence (it has) taken time to come to the conclusion.

"As far as safety is concerned, I feel we need to work towards it. We have to be vigilant. It is unfortunate that there are not enough safety measures in place," he added.

National Award-winning director Bhandarkar said though loss of life cannot be compensated but justice has prevailed.

"Justice has prevailed. It was a dastardly act lot of people had lost their lives. Though loss of life cannot be compensated but justice has been delivered," he said.

Producer Mukesh Bhatt said he completely supports the punishment awarded to the guilty and called for initiatives to create a safer environment.

"I support the judiciary. We have faith in our system.

It has come bit late but I think it has been done after evaluating all the evidences... pros and cons have been seen properly and then this verdict has come," Bhatt told PTI.

"We have 100 miles to go when it comes to security. We need to create better and safe environment. We are still vulnerable to terrorist attacks," he said.
