Kangana Ranaut has once again sparked a conversation around generations after declaring that she identifies as Gen Alpha. Her latest remark comes weeks after she faced backlash for calling some Gen Z protesters "generation gutter." Now, she appears to be praising Gen Alpha's approach.

Kangana calls herself Gen Alpha

On Saturday, Kangana took to Instagram and shared a reel on her Story. The reel featured a little girl acting like a Gen Z "influencer" while promoting eating lettuce. The caption on the reel read, "Gen Alpha roasting Gen Z is pure gold." Sharing the video, Kangana wrote, "It is official I identify as Gen Alpha. Gen Alpha is like come to the point, no nonsense detected." She also shared another video of a young child dressed as a soldier and wrote, "Gen Alpha is bleeding tricolour."

When Kangana Ranaut criticised Gen Z

In late July 2026, while commenting on the Gen-Z-led protests at Jantar Mantar, she called some protesters "Generation Gutter," accusing them of crude language and behaviour. She also criticised some young women protesters, saying they flaunted "freedom" without accountability.

Issuing a clarification on her remark after severe backlash, she said, "A Congress leader said that I have called the youth of the whole country as gutter chhaaps. The youth of the whole country, if you only talk about Gen Z, then their population is going to be around 30-35 crores, and at Jantar Mantar, there were only about 10,000 people gathered there, out of which more than half were people like Shabana Azmi. You saw all types of age groups were roaming."

The actress further mentioned that she doesn't oppose the youth of this country simply because she herself belongs to the youth community. "Don't run this useless agenda against me. I cannot be a youth opponent, because I am a youth myself, and not a 55-60-year-old youth like Rahul Gandhi," she added.

Apart from this, Kangana took potshots at Sharmila Tagore recently after she suggested that only the first two paras of the national song must be sung, as many religious people in India, coming from different faiths, might not be comfortable with singing. Kangana took to her social media and said that Sharmila must "come out of Hindu-Muslim mindset."
