Imagine waking up on your birthday on a bed filled with presents. Well, this is how actor Dia Mirza, who celebrates her birthday today, has been spending her birthday mornings since childhood. "It's so much fun unwrapping one gift after another while you're cosily tucked under a blanket," says Dia.u00a0
Mom's darling
Though I haven't made any plans as such, my mom has been busy working on my birthday for almost a week. She hasn't revealed anything to me, so it will be a surprise affair till this evening. She's not alone in it; my friends are giving her adequate support. So, I am sensing a lot of hustle and bustle behind my back.
Since childhood, every birthday has been a magical affair. I was born seven years after my parents' marriage, so my mom cherishes this day like no other. Every year before my birthday, she gets nostalgic and emotional, saying lines like, "Twenty nine years ago, I had you in my womb at this time," and many such anecdotes related to my birth. I must have heard them zillions of times, but I never get tired of them. She also writes an annual letter for me every birthday, to go through again and again.
Full of dreams
It has been ten years since I won the Miss Asia Pacific title. I have always said that the title brought about a paradigm shift in my life. It gave me a lot of opportunities, which I am thankful for. It fulfilled a lot of my dreams and I have found new dreams in this journey. I have set up a production company with my friend and hope to start work on my first film from February 2011. Besides work, I want to contribute actively towards social causes which are close to my heart.u00a0u00a0
A million thanks
I think that God has blessed me in a big way. I couldn't have asked for more. Everyday I thank Him for filling my life with so much happiness and people who love me so dearly. I want to lead a fulfiling life and leave behind good memories. That's my biggest wish.
