All of us have songs that we love to listen to depending on our mood. Composer Amit Trivedi of Pardesi (Dev D) and Iktaara (Wake Up Sid) fame also has some favourites. "Right now, I am not getting much time to listen to much music. I am busier making music," he says. However, Amit shares some of his fave tracks with CS readers:
Current favourite...u00a0 Right now, I am only listening to Steely Dan, that too in the mornings. I find him to be a really cool musician. The songs have a very acid jazz kind of vibe to them. Every morning, you will hear Steely Dan playing at my home or studio.
Favourite rain song... Oh! There are quite a few of them. I love Adnan Sami's Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein for its lilt and pop feeling. Raindrops Keep Fallin On My Head by Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid is another lovely number. It's a country number, simple but beautifully rendered by BJ Thomas.
I love to jam on...u00a0 Well, the songs my friends and I use to love jamming on in college days were Chatur Naar from Padosan and Dukki Pe Dukki Ho from Satte Pe Satta. Both these songs are
by RD Burman, and were eternal canteen hits.
When I am feeling low...u00a0 There is one song that I composed for the film Aamir,u00a0 Ha Raham Ha Raham Farma-E-Khuda, Mehfuz Har Kadam Karna E Khuda the lyrics for which were written by Amitabh. The hero is telling God to listen to his prayers and keep him safe. I guess that's what all of us tell the Almighty when we are in trouble.
The number that turns me on...u00a0 (laughs out loud) Frankly, I have never thought of the seductive number that I like the best. But I love the melody of the lines 'Jo Bhi Chahiye Kahiye' in the song Raat Akeli Hai Bujh Gaye Diye.
Favourite English song...u00a0 Fields of Gold by Sting. This is one of my all-time favourites. I can listen to this song irrespective of which mood I am in. It plays quite often at home, studio and in my car.
The devotional/Sufi song I like the most...u00a0 It has to be Gajanana Shree Ganaraya as I love the melody of that bhajan. I also listen to a lot of Sufi numbers; Piya Haji Ali by AR Rehman is one of the songs I really love for its soulful feel.
