While Part 1 of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana has got everyone excited and is set to hit theatres, an update on the sequel has now emerged. A few days ago, reports suggested that the makers were postponing Part 2 as the ambitious project required more time. Producer Namit Malhotra has now confirmed the delay and explained the reason behind it.
In an interview with E! News, Namit revealed the reason behind postponing the sequel and said, "So the idea was now that we've got so much excitement that the world has had, we want to take a little bit more time to make sure that when we present the grand finale, we have a little bit more time to do what we did on Part One. That extra year is what I genuinely believe we need to do justice for a film of this size. When you see part 2 coming in, that will be a whole other story. We didn't want to do a rush job or get ahead of ourselves. We want to deliver the finale in the most grand way that it deserves."
In another interview with Review Nation, Namit opened up about making Ramayana a trilogy and stated, "I feel like we may sit back on the drawing board and see if there's anything else that we want to add or subtract, depending on how the world has received it. Because, you know, while we say that, we also have two different versions of the same film, with two different runtimes on part one itself."
In a recent interview with Review Nation, Ranbir talked about his experience of working on the film and shared a surprising update about the sequel. He said, "I have finished 50 per cent of part two already. We are in the process of shooting it already. Even when we finish part two or part three, if there is one. I don't think this will ever leave us."
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is a two-part adaptation of Valmiki's epic. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Yash essays Ravana and Sai Pallavi portrays Sita. The ensemble cast includes Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor, among others.
