Ramayana: Ranbir Kapoor reveals part 2 will be larger and entertaining

Ever since the Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-starrer Ramayana trailer was unveiled, audiences have been awaiting the release of the epic saga this Diwali. Amid this, Ranbir has shared a big update about Part 2, which will release next year. He spoke about how difficult it was to adapt the saga into two parts and hinted that Sunny Deol's Hanuman will have a much bigger role in Part 2.

Ranbir Kapoor on adapting Ramayana

While speaking to The Direct, Ranbir Kapoor reflected on the challenge of adapting Ramayana into two parts. He said, "To be honest, to tell Ramayana, you probably need a 10-part movie, but the kind of conciseness in two parts was very hard."

Ranbir also dismissed the notion that Ramayana needed a major reinterpretation to connect with today's audiences. He said, "I don't think a story like Ramayana needs that. I think the text has stayed for over 4,000 years. Lord Rama has been the conscious gatekeeper of millions of people around the world, and I think everything that it talks about - courage, good over evil, righteousness, forgiveness, compassion, ego - is a life lesson."

In the same interview, Ranbir spoke about Part 2 and shared an exciting update. He revealed, "We're already 50 percent done shooting Part Two even before the first part is released because it's a continuing story."

Ranbir further shared that the second part is going to be "even larger, more entertaining," and that Hanuman, played by Sunny Deol, will have a much bigger role in the sequel.

At the Pratham Sankalp event of Ramayana, Sunny Deol got emotional and opened up about portraying the role the right way. "To tell you the truth, I have done only a little work on the film so far. I still have a long way to go. I am grateful that I received the opportunity to play Hanuman ji. I will make every possible effort to portray him in the right way."

"Playing Hanuman ji is not easy," Sunny added. "But I know I will enjoy it immensely. He is playful, innocent, and powerful. He is loved by everyone, and above all, he is a devotee of Lord Ram."
