The young Environment and Housing Minister of State in Maharashtra Government and MLA from Worli and film-producer wife Sangeeta Ahir celebrated the World Environment Day at Worli Seaface in a grand way.

A 1000 metre canvas was mounted on the seaface where people could draw, paint, write their messages alongwith a children's drawing competition and stage play to create awareness about global warming.

More than 3000 saplings of plants were distributed in Worli to locals and other Mumbaikars who had joined in. The message was clear: to plant one tree for one family.

The highpoint of the evening though was when Sachin and his daughter Aishwarya, along with hundreds of enthusiastic participants, promoted the message of a clean and green environment by riding bicycles.

He also pointed out how drinking water should be boiled and then stirred during cooling to avoid bacteria. An appeal was made to stop deforestation immediately as 'we areu00a0 losing 60 acres of forest every minute.'
