The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will hold a protest in Mumbai on October 2, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Music director Vishal Dadlani has announced that he will join the protest in support of the demand. In a video, he announced his participation while singing the slogan 'Go Gyanu Go.' He also criticised Gyanesh Kumar for tampering with the country's democracy and urged the citizens to join the demonstration.

On Thursday, Vishal took to Instagram and shared a video in which he sang the slogan, "Zor se bolo Go Gyanu Go, milke bolo, Go Gyanu Go, saath mein bolo, Go Gyanu Go." He then added, "Gyanesh Kumar ji, aapne hamare desh ki democracy ke saath Khilwaad kiya hai, hamare election system ke saath Khilwaad kiya hai, apko toh jaana hi hoga. I will be joining the CJP protest tomorrow at 4 pm, Shivaji Park. Saare aaiye, the country needs you. Hasenge, mazza karenge, bade pyaar se Gyanu ko ravaana karenge. Jai Hind."

(Gyanesh Kumar ji, you have played with our country's democracy and our election system. You have to go. I will be joining the CJP protest tomorrow at 4 pm at Shivaji Park. Everyone, please come; the country needs you. We'll laugh, have some fun and, with lots of love, bid Gyanu farewell. Jai Hind.)

Why is the CJP Protest happening?

The CJP announced the protest after a report circulated about alleged differences within the Election Commission of India (ECI). On September 25, Abhijeet Dipke, along with other CJP members, including Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, conducted a press conference and raised three demands: Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, freezing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and reforming the Election Commission. However, these suggestions were rejected by the Election Commission.

Moreover, Mumbai Police has denied permission to the CJP to hold its October 2 protest at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. The CJP, however, has said it will be held despite the lack of permission. A CJP spokesperson said the first demonstration would be conducted at Gate No. 6 near Shivaji Park, followed by protests in Bengaluru, Goa, Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi.
