Producer Dinesh Vijan and actor Rajkummar Rao have officially joined forces once again for their next film, Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story. The teaser of the film was attached to Cocktail 2, and now the makers have officially unveiled it, featuring Rao transformed into public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam as he fights the most discussed case of his life.
The teaser hints at a gripping courtroom drama packed with intensity, conviction and powerful moments, with Rajkummar leading the narrative with authority. While Ujjwal Nikam's career spans numerous high-profile cases, the teaser indicates that the film largely focuses on one of the most significant chapters of his journey, the trial of Ajmal Kasab following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Through this story, PRAHAAR promises to explore the legal battle that captured the attention of the entire nation.
One of the standout aspects of the teaser is Rajkummar Rao's commitment to authenticity. From his appearance and body language to his command over Marathi, the actor appears to have undergone a detailed transformation to portray the renowned prosecutor. The teaser also packs a punch with its impactful dialogues, setting the stage for a compelling big-screen experience.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Avinash Arun, Prahaar will also see Wamiqa Gabbi, Sikandar Kher, and Jaideep Ahlawat in pivotal roles. The film also marks another collaboration between Dinesh Vijan and Rajkummar Rao after Stree, Made in China, Hum Do Hamare Do, and Bhool Chuk Maaf. The film is all set to release on August 7, 2026.
The announcement comes during a busy phase for producer Dinesh Vijan, who is also reuniting with director Laxman Utekar for the upcoming film Eetha. The project stars Shraddha Kapoor in a powerful author-backed role. Eetha also features Randeep Hooda and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub in pivotal roles.
The actor is next collaborating with Keerthy Suresh for Raftaar. Set against the backdrop of India's rapidly growing ed-tech sector, Raftaar explores the rise of a start-up and the intense ambition driving its core characters. The film will be backed by his production house, KAMPA Films, and features Anurag Thakur, Rohan Verma, Tanya Maniktala, and Rajat Kapoor in key roles.
Apart from this, he is also a part of Sourav Ganguly's biopic. The film is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, while music director Pritam has been roped in for the project. The actor was last seen shooting in Kolkata for the film.
