Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Ramayana is only a few days away from its grand theatrical release, and the buzz among fans is at an all-time high. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, the first instalment of the two-part epic is set to release on Diwali, November 5, 2026. Amid the hype, reports now suggest that the film's second part may face a delay. The team reportedly needs more time to shoot crucial scenes, including the battle between Ravana and Lord Rama. Similarly, the action sequences and other scenes are expected to take longer than anticipated, which could likely push the film's release to 2028 instead of Diwali 2027.
Producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari are seemingly going all out to make Ramayana a grand cinematic spectacle. However, they could face a slight roadblock, with the sequel likely to be delayed. Initially scheduled for a Diwali 2027 release, it may now hit the screens in 2028.
A source reportedly told Bollywood Hungama that the second instalment requires more time for shooting, adding that the real scale of Ramayana would be showcased in Part 2, since that is where the epic battle between Lord Rama and Ravana will unfold.
The report also states that the action design has taken longer than expected. The makers wanted to create some of the most original action sequences for the film to have the desired global impact. To achieve this, producer Malhotra is leaving no stone unturned, even if it means setting financial considerations aside.
While the makers are yet to confirm the development, the new release date for the second instalment is expected to be announced in the post-credit scene of Ramayana Part 1.
Ramayana: Part 1 is set to hit the theatres worldwide on November 5, 2026. The film has been shot using IMAX cameras, and advance bookings are currently open.
The Nitesh Tiwari-directorial has a runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes. The ensemble cast of the film includes Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey, Vivek Oberoi, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Kajal Aggarwal and others in key roles.
