Ranbir Kapoor recently drew an interesting comparison between the Pushpak Vimana from the Ramayana and modern-day flying car technology. During a promotional interview for the upcoming film, the actor quipped that India had its own version of a flying car 5,000 years ago, referring to Elon Musk's latest invention. His remark came as the team discussed recreating the epic's world on screen.

Ranbir Kapoor compares Pushpak Vimana to Tesla's new car

The cast of Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor, Ravi Dubey, Nitesh Tiwari, Rakul Preet Singh and Yash, sat down for a special interview with Star Talks. While praising the film, TV presenter Suma spoke about the remarkable weapons used during that era, noting that they could rival modern inventions. Praising the visual effects by Academy Award-winning studio DNEG (Double Negative), she said the team did a great job bringing these creations to life on screen. To this, Ranbir added, "Elon Musk recently invented a flying car. I think India did it 5,000 years ago!"

To note, the comparison comes as Tesla's next-generation Roadster has been back in the spotlight. Musk unveiled the long-delayed electric sports car at an event in Waco, Texas.

During the same interview, director Nitesh Tiwari also revealed that it took around two years to build the Pushpak Vimana.

He said, "It took us close to two years to arrive at the final design, and a lot changed along the way. That's why we took so much time to create the Ravana and Jatayu fight. When we were working on the earlier design of the Pushpaka Vimana, we'd imagined it would look a certain way, so the fight was choreographed accordingly. However, once we finalised a slightly different design for the Vimana, we had to go through several iterations to make it fit the existing choreography."

More about Ramayana

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's much-anticipated film Ramayana has received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its theatrical release. The film has been awarded a 'U' certificate, with a runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes.

Ahead of its worldwide release, Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana had its premiere in LA. The screening sparked speculation about a post-credit scene teasing a major character in the film's sequel. While fans believe it could be Lord Hanuman, played by Sunny Deol, a viewer has claimed that the scene features the deity's introduction. Critics also confirmed that Ramayana 2 is releasing in 2028.
