Sudhir Dalvi to get financial aid from Shirdi temple trust
The Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court recently granted permission to the Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan Trust to give financial assistance to veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi. The 86-year-old actor, who is known for his iconic portrayal of Sai Baba in Manoj Kumar's 1977 film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba, is currently undergoing treatment for sepsis. His portrayal as Sai Baba earned him immense respect.
The Shirdi Temple Trust had approached the court seeking approval to disburse Rs 11 lakh as financial aid towards Dalvi's ongoing medical expenses. For the underserved, as per previous directives, the Shirdi Sansthan must obtain the High Court's permission before offering financial aid exceeding a certain amount. Hence, the petition was filed in the case of Dalvi. The petition argued that the veteran actor's condition was serious and that the assistance was essential for his critical treatment costs.
After reviewing the plea, the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court permitted the Trust to proceed with the financial support. It noted that such aid aligned with the Sansthan's objectives of providing humanitarian help to individuals in need. Similarly, the court also acknowledged Dalvi's long association with the cultural and spiritual legacy of Shirdi Sai Baba through his performance.
For the unversed, as per the last updates in October, the actor has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai since October 8, 2025 and is suffering from severe sepsis. It is a serious and potentially life-threatening infection that demands intensive medical care. According to reports, the actor's medical expenses had already crossed Rs 10 lakh, while the doctors estimate that the total cost of his treatment could reach Rs 15 lakh.
Dalvi's portrayal of Sai Baba is one of the most iconic depictions in Indian cinema. His performance greatly contributed to the success of Manoj Kumar's film, establishing his image as a spiritual figure in the minds of viewers. Over the years, he continued to work in films, television, and theatre; however, his role as Sai Baba remained his most cherished one.
