Theatre was admittedly Shweta Tripathi's acting school. It's where she learnt all that she knows about the craft. Today, as her maiden stage production Cock has completed its Mumbai run and is set to travel to other cities, the actor-turned-producer is all the more aware of how theatre has shaped her as an artiste.

Nimrat Kaur and Neil Bhoopalam

Recalling her early days in Prithvi Theatre, Tripathi said that she learnt the tricks of the trade by observing actors up-close. "Through my theatre journey, I witnessed actors like Nimrat Kaur and Neil Bhoopalam perform on stage at Prithvi Theatre. I feel theatre has shaped who I am, not just as an actor, but also as a person. It taught me discipline, empathy, and the ability to connect," she said.

Her learnings from the stage, coupled with the friends she made in the field, have led her to form her theatre company, AllMyTea. She elaborated, "While working in backstage production before stepping into performance, I learnt a lot. Thespo [the theatre company] became instrumental in shaping my creative ecosystem. AllMyTea was formed because of the people and experiences I gathered there."

‘Cock' will soon begin its run in Bengaluru and Hyderabad
