Sophie's in the festive mood

Dressed in a red hot number, singer-model Sophie Choudry echoes the sentiment of the festive season. Sophie, who will bring in the New Year with a performance in Bangalore, talks to CS about the things she loves the most about this season:

Food fun
My diet just goes out of the window during this period. It's not the time to think about calories or beauty sleep (laughs). From Christmas to New Year's Eve, almost everyday I have a lunch or dinner engagement. Back home in London, Christmas lunch was a big affair with my mom preparing Tandoori Turkey for at least 20 people.

We had an English Christmas lunch this time around here in Mumbai with roast chicken, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips, plum cake, etc. While having lunch, we turned on Skype so that we could talk to my brother who's in London.u00a0

Bury the hatchet
What I love the most about this season is the joy de vivre in the air. The lights, decorations and thoughtful gifts brighten up the season. There is this infectious positive vibe around you. It's also a time to forget quarrels and patch up. This year, I had a fight with a couple of people who are quite close to me.

But I made an effort to make up during Christmas and things are fine between us (smiles). So, everyone just wants to forget the negativity and start the New Year on an optimistic cheerful note.u00a0

Gifts galore
As children, unwrapping presents on Christmas was so much fun. I could hear my mom secretly packaging the items for my brother and me. Even this year, at four in the morning, I could hear my mom wrapping up my gifts.

I was so excited to unwrap themu00a0-- a pair of limited edition handbags from Tod's and Gucci! I too bought a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes and some Swarovski items for her from Bangkok and picked up some gifts for my grandmother.u00a0u00a0

Bling it on
I like the fact that people make an extra effort to look specialu00a0-- women dress up in gorgeous evening wear, right from pretty ethnic stuff to glamourous dresses and gowns. And you see bling all around you. I too enjoy dressing up for the parties I have to attend this season.

This year, Rocky S has designed this crystal studded short dress for me to wear on New Year's Eve. And what's exciting is that most of the sales of the international brands start in some time (smiles), so New Year means gifting yourself lovely things.u00a0u00a0u00a0
