"Whatever you eat shows on your face," says Neha Desai who plays Payal in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki. The pretty actor talks to CS about how she keeps her hair and skin healthy without actually doing much:
Going natural
I have normal skin and wheatish complexion. I like the way it is. I have an oily scalp and long hair. I believe that the best thing you can ever do for your skin and hair is to not do anything. It is best left natural.
Coming out clean
I use cleansing milk to cleanse my make-up once I am done with my shoot. Also before going to bed, I make sure that not a single particle of make-up is left on my face. The same goes with my hair. I wash it everyday as I have an oily scalp. For me, washing my hair everyday is as important as brushing my teeth!
Making it simple
I go for clean-ups once a month and also visit my doctor once in three months. My skin care regime is simple. I use MAC make-up on my skin as it suits me. I get a hair spa done once in 15 days. I don't oil my hair as much, because I'm too lazy to do it. But I use good products for my hair as well as my skin.
Eating right
I eat everything as long as it is vegetarian. I drink a lot of fruit juices and soups during the day. I have a very high metabolism rate so I don't worry too much about the calories. My dabba on the sets comes from home. I eat dal every day which takes care of my protein intake. As a matter of fact, I do hog on junk food sometimes, but I make sure I burn it out in the gym.
Right hair, right now
I can't imagine leaving my house without dabbing some sunblock. I always apply a 50 SPF sunscreen. I avoid straightening my hair frequently, and instead opt for wigs.
My Mantra
I have never tried a ghar ka nuska or parlour treatment for my skin. I don't believe in experimenting; I'm always afraid I'll turn up in a rash. Also I don't oil my hair often. People say that hair becomes dry without oil, but that is just a myth. As long as you take care of it, it'll look nice and lustrous. And yes, it is important to stay happy too.
