The India Story: Director Chetan DK disappointed over CBFC's 25 last-minute changes

Seeing The India Story open in cinemas today is a matter of joy for the makers of the Shreyas Talpade and Kajal A Kitchlu-starrer. But the past few days were frenetic for director Chetan DK and the producers as they raced against time to get a greenlight from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The social drama - which revolves around the use of pesticides in agriculture - was handed out 25 changes by the CBFC on July 20, days before its scheduled July 24 release.

A source told mid-day that the makers had applied for the film's screening for the CBFC on June 2. The screening, however, was held on July 17. The source said, "Finally on July 20, the changes came. We worked on it day and night, and got our CBFC certificate on the night of July 22."

Some of the cuts include deleting a visual of a ‘cancer train', and a dialogue that went ‘Kisaan doshi hai'.

Confirming the news, the director said, "It's disheartening to have 25 changes. Since everything happened at the last minute, we had no choice but to go along with the cuts and changes given by the CBFC."
