Though India and Pakistan's cricketing ties are far from lukewarm for a while now and both have refused to play on each other's terrains, Dil Bole Hadippa has an Indo-Pak match in the offing!
Director Anurag Singh's Rani Mukerji-Shahid Kapur starrer has the rival teams battle it out in the Yash Raj film's climax.
Says a source, "As part of the finale scenes, there is a gala match. The two participating teams have been termed India Club and Pakistan Club."
And there are no prizes for guessing who wins in the end.
Adds the source, "In any Indo-Pak match, especially cricket emotions run high due to the history of the two countries. It is always a case of do or die when these two names are associated. For the makers there was no better way to cash in on these emotions."
Burning desire
It is well known that Rani's character Veera Kaur in Hadippa has a burning desire to join the cricket team. She does but in the guise of a Sardar as Veer Pratap Singh. Shahid essays the role of a coach whom Rani falls for and lands in a quandary - as he thinks she's a guy!
The sworn-to-secrecy production folk, as usual, are guarded about Hadippa's storyline and the climax. Rafiq Gangjee, VP marketing and communications, Yash Raj Films maintains, "We don't discuss our scripts before the release."
It is also learnt that major chunks of Hadippa's cricket scenes were shot at the same grounds in Chembur where SRK-starrer Chak De! India was shot.
Adds the source, "The ground is considered lucky by Yash Raj as Chak De! India was a success."
Gangjee admits, "Yes, some cricket scenes were shot at the same location where Chak De! India was shot."
The source adds, "Though it has cricket as its backdrop, Hadippa is mainly about Rani's character's aspirations and how she fulfils them."
