"Choli ke piche kya hai?" asked the Bad Man of Bollywoodu00a0 Gulshan Grover who was present at the closing ceremony of the fashion week. And just when we were thinking things are about to get raunchy, the man replied:
"FDCI's big heart." FDCI president Sunil Sethi had anecdotes to share from the good old days when the man wasn't an actor. "In those days denim jackets were a rare thing. So Gulshan once borrowed my jacket for three hours and my scooter too for a date," remembers Sethi. "But today I end up borrowing his Bentley," he added with a grin.
What a crowd!
Whistling at the models? Catcalls for those walking down the catwalk? Mobile cameras going click click every second some skin is flashed? Certainly not the kind of behaviour one would expect at a fashion week. But this is something that has been consistently happening at the fashion week this time. While the front row celebs and buyers looked appalled, the audience went on ceeteeing in full glory, just as they would do in a movie hall. International standard venue does not good audience make.
A touch of gold
While the clothes were scorching the ramp upstairs in the show area, downstairs there was a weird buzz near the stalls. "Is it really made of gold?" asked one socialite to another.
Gold shoes and cholis and bustiers drew curious crowds to one particular stall set up by a designer.
There are shawls too with gold thread woven in them.u00a0 While there is no end to the number of people who can afford them, we wonder how many people would actually be able to carry this royal touch and stave off robbers too.
Hey psst...
Guess who were laughing their way to bank at the end of
fashion week? The golgappa and omelettewallas outside the venue. "I don't know what happens inside, the rich go inside scantily dressed and leave their drivers behind at our stalls. But what do I care the drivers are enjoying the food," say a beaming
omelletewala.
