Lyrics by chance....I never aspired to become a lyricist. I used to write plays in my theatre days. It was then that I wrote Bawra Mann. Not many people believed I could write songs. In fact, I accidentally discovered the lyricist in me. I am still in the learning phase. By nature, I am quite laidback, and would like to enjoy the journey rather than just focus on ambitions.
WHO: Swanand Kirkire
WHAT: Gives words to his thoughts WHERE: At his Andheri residence While we were working on Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, KK (singer) happened to read my song. He told Sudhir Mishra about it, who asked me for the song. Later, Shantanu Moitra made me sing it for the film. Pradeep Sarkar heard that song, and asked me to compose lyrics for Parineeta. That's how it started.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

I follow my own style of writing. I think that's what gives me a distinct identity. I am happy that I write songs that are meaningful and soulful in quality. So far, I have been lucky to have experimented in different genres of music. There was the soulful Bawra Mann, a retro Khoya Khoya Chand, to the young All Izz Well in 3 idiots. In fact, every time I try something new, I am always in doubt for its success, but that's because of my skeptical nature. But I don't want to stop from trying out new things.u00a0
Writing for the layman Lyrics are not just exotic words strummed together. You have to write songs that people understand. With English becoming our second language, it's understandable that it enters Bollywood. With Hinglish, we're discovering a new language that has its own identity. The basic idea of lyrics is to communicate thoughts. As long as you can do it, it's okay.u00a0
Lights, camera, action Though I love composing and singing occasionally, I want to direct a film one day; I'm truly kicked about it. This is the one thing I always wanted to do. I want to experience how it feels being the captain of a ship ufffd a film. In fact, I have started working on a story, which is in line with my style of writing songs.
