Born on September 28, 1982, Ranbir Kapoor is the son of actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, and the grandson of legendary filmmaker-actor Raj Kapoor. He made his Bollywood debut with Saawariya, alongside Sonam Kapoor in 2007. Ever since there is no looking back for this Kapoor lad.

'My parents never gave any tips. They never forced moralistic values on me. Just growing up in a film family was a lesson in itself because all our conversations revolve around films. My family is very passionate about cinema... growing up in that environment was contagious,' Ranbir said.

Mama's boy Ranbir Kapoor with Neetu Kapoor. 'My mother's my biggest fan. I'm close to both my parents. But I think I'm a wee bit closer to my mom. I can share anything with her and she too confides in me, there's nothing that the two of us can't talk about. I can't even think of ever staying away from my mom,' said Ranbir Kapoor in an old interview.

Rishi used to be his son Ranbir's biggest critic, as told by the actor earlier. 'My father has never lectured me about my career or forced me to do anything. He may not agree with my choices but there is no conflict,' he had said in an interview.

A lesser-known fact about Ranbir is that the actor is a gadget freak. Be it out of station, while on shoots or in the house, Ranbir Kapoor likes to be surrounded by gadgets and makes sure he keeps himself updated about the happenings in the 'g' world. And like any other boy, he's almost inseparable from his gaming zone, which has all possible video games from every brand.

Not many know that Ranbir Kapoor has a phobia of water and hates being around a pool or a large water body.

Another very not-so-common fact about Ranbir Kapoor is that the actor hates birthdays! 'I think they are very over-rated and a day when everyone is trying to make you feel special. I don't like doing anything on my birthdays,' said Kapoor.

Ranbir Kapoor suffers from vertigo. As a result, shooting at great heights very often proves arduous for the actor. While shooting for Rockstar, one of the scenes involved a concert sequence with a crowd of over 1,000 people. The shots on the ground required a great deal of coordination. And director Imtiaz Ali also wanted some aerial shots of it. But as he could not be present in two places at the same time, he asked Ranbir to supervise the aerial takes. The actor managed to take the aerial shots from a helicopter and how!

Ranbir Kapoor shares a close and sweet relationship with mother Neetu Kapoor -- but she is also the one who embarrasses him the most! 'Ranbir gets very embarrassed when I kiss him. He hates it and always asks me to stop,' Neetu had confessed once.

While many are aware of the fact that Ranbir Kapoor worked as an assistant with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Black (2005), but very few know that the Kapoor lad started his career in the film industry as an assistant director in Prem Granth (1996).
