John Abraham made his Bollywood debut in 2003 with Jism opposite Bipasha Basu. Jism starred Bipasha as Sonia, the wife of Rohit (Gulshan Grover). She has an extramarital affair with Kabir (John) and convinces him to kill her husband so they can live happily together. By the time Kabir sees the true side of Sonia, it's too late. Bips-John's chemistry heated up the screens in Jism.
In 2011, John Abraham starred in Force, where he played the role of an ACP. The film was a huge hit. He then appeared in successful films such as Madras Cafe, Dishoom, Force 2, Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran and Satyameva Jayate.
"As an actor, I needed a break from serious cinema," begins Abraham, alluding that difficult projects such as Batla House take an emotional toll on an artiste. "That's why I wanted to do a film that would make me as well as the audience happy. With Pagalpanti, the idea was to make a movie that would be suitable for all age groups. It doesn't have double meaning jokes, exposure or bloodshed."
While Priya chooses to stay out of the limelight, she takes a keen interest in the actor's production house. John admits he was "always careful" about his finances, but his wife's expertise comes handy.
"Priya is fantastic. She has made a huge difference in the way we approach numbers and our business. She has studied in the best universities of the world and worked with some of the finest financial companies," he adds. For the unversed, John Abraham's wife Priya Runchal is an investment banker.
