The duo met for the first time on the sets of their first film together, Hulchul, in 1995. Notably, Kajol had replaced Divya Bharti in the film. Hence, their meeting truly seemed destined.

At that time, Kajol was dating someone else, and so was Ajay. However, the two started talking on the sets and became good friends.

Eventually, they broke up with their respective partners. Thus, the Ajay Devgn–Kajol love story began.

Did you know neither Kajol nor Ajay proposed to each other? In an interview, the actress had said, “There was no proposal. It was understood that we were to be together.”

Ajay Devgn and Kajol took their wedding vows on February 24, 1999, after dating for four years. The couple had a Punjabi wedding followed by a Maharashtrian wedding ceremony.

They tied the knot in an intimate ceremony attended only by close friends and family members. 

Ajay did not even hire a single photographer for the event and took the responsibility upon himself. After that, Ajay and Kajol left the city to enjoy a month-long honeymoon in Europe.

The madly in love couple reached the next stage of their lives in 2001 when they announced that they were expecting their first child. However, things turned upside down when Kajol suffered a miscarriage in the sixth month of her first pregnancy.

A few years after this unhappy incident, the sun shone brightly on the couple again as they finally welcomed their first child, their daughter, Nysa Devgn, on April 20, 2003.

Finally, their family was completed with the arrival of their son, Yug, seven years later, on September 13, 2010.

Wishing Ajay on their anniversary, Kajol wrote on Instagram, “In a rare moment of understanding, we both agree that we both deserve a medal and a trophy!”
