FWICE's decision against Ranveer

On May 25, 2026, the FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer in the Don 3 matter, claiming that he failed to respond to repeated requests to appear before the body and discuss the issue, despite being sent three reminders

The decision comes more than a month after Farhan approached the federation with a complaint over Ranveer's exit from 'Don 3', which was announced by Excel Entertainment in August 2023, with a teaser revealing the actor as the new Don

About Don 3 makers' complaint

The complaint was filed by filmmaker Farhan Akhtar before IFTDA on 11th April 2026, following which the matter was officially referred to FWICE for further course of action and appropriate intervention. During the meetings, Farhan informed that they have already incurred approximately Rs. 45 crores towards the pre-production of the film

In his complaint, Farhan alleged that Ranveer Singh withdrew from the project just three weeks before the film's unit was scheduled to leave for the shoot, resulting in significant financial losses for the production house, said FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit

What is Farhan demanding?

Ashoke Pandit said in the press conference, “Farhan wants Rs. 45 crores. This amount has been accounted for and audited. They have told him, ‘This is the amount we have spent. You check, and if you feel there’s something wrong in the amount, we are ready to accept it’.”

No members to work with Ranveer Singh

Ashoke Pandit has urged producers to extend their support to the move until the dispute is formally resolved. "This implies that none of our workers or members, across all crafts, will work on any of his projects...We have requested all producers to take a stand, to join us in solidarity, to speak out against this conduct, and to take a firm decision. We believe that this is a negative trend, a precedent that must not be allowed to take root..," he explained

Is the ban real?

While several reports described the move as a “ban,” there is currently no official industry-wide or legal ban imposed on the actor. Instead, FWICE has asked its affiliated workers, technicians and members not to collaborate with Ranveer Singh until the matter is resolved

Since Bollywood filmmaking depends heavily on these people, such a move can significantly disrupt ongoing and future projects. However, as reported by News24, Ranveer Singh will also not be able to shoot or produce new films in India until he and the producers of Don 3 reach a conclusion

What is FWICE?

FWICE is the primary trade union and umbrella organisation for film and television workers in India. According to its website, the organisation was formed in 1956. Other than taking care of its members, the body also steps in to mediate conflicts arising between artists, technicians and production studios

Ranveer's response

Ranveer's Official spokesperson shared a statement saying, "Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect."

"While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead,” the statement read.
