Simar Bhatia is Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's niece. She is the daughter of his sister Alka Bhatia and her former husband Vaibhav Kapoor.
However, the couple eventually parted ways. In 2012, Alka married real estate tycoon Surendra Hiranandani.
Alka's brother, Akshay Kumar, wasn't happy with his sister's marriage to the billionaire, Surendra Hiranandani as they have an age-gap of 15 years.
Simar was raised in Mumbai but stayed away from the limelight. She attended Jamnabai Narsee School and Oberoi International School.
Pursuing her higher education abroad, she studied at IMG Academy in Florida. She also attended Occidental College in LA and George Washington University.
While studying in the US, Simar developed a strong interest in creative arts. Her time there helped shape her passion.
Simar maintains a low social media profile, and her Instagram mostly reflects her passion for travel, with very little about her film connections.
Simar Bhatia will play Agastya Nanda's love interest in war drama Ikkis. To note, this also marks veteran actor Dharmendra's last film who breathed his last on November 24.
Ikkis is said to be a war drama that shares the inspiring tale of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. It is all set to release on December 25.
Now that the movie is nearing its release, Akshay took to his social media account to express his emotions for his niece. Sharing the poster of Simar from Ikkis, Akshay penned, “Holding you as a tiny baby to now watching you step into the world of films… life really has come full circle."
“Simar, I’ve seen you turn from a shy little girl who would hide behind her mom into this confident young woman ready to face the camera like she was born for it. Safar mushkil hai, but knowing you, you’ll walk into it with that same spark, that same honesty, and that same stubborn determination that runs in our family,” he suggested.
Kumar also expressed that he is equally proud of her and even called her a star.
