Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)

He played a small yet crucial role of a Pakistani Intelligence Officer in the high-stakes spy thriller.

Hamare Tumhare (1979)

Rakesh Bedi made his Bollywood debut in the 1979 film Hamare Tumhare, starring Sanjeev Kumar and Rakhee. He played a side character of Sunil in this family drama.

Chashme Buddoor (1981)

One of his breakthrough film roles was Omi, one of three roommates, playing an aspiring Urdu poet and flirt.

Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984)

Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai

He played a long-standing role of Bhoorey Lal (Angoori Bhabhi’s father) in the television series Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai.

Shrimaan Shrimati (1994–1997)

His most famous TV role is Dilruba Jarnail Singh Khurana, where he played the effeminate and artistic husband of Prema Shalini.

Gadar and Gadar 2

Rakesh played the role of Vaid Keemati Lal, a local doctor, in 2001's Gadar and reprised his role in Gadar 2 of 2023.

Qubool Hai (2012)

Interestingly, way before Dhurandhar, Rakesh played the role of Dhurandhar Watavdekar, an upright, law-abiding officer determined to deport the female lead in the TV series, Qubool Hai.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

Rakesh played the role of Babulal, Taarak Mehta's boss, in the popular sitcom since 2020.

Ek Duuje Ke Liye (1981)

In the tragic romantic classic, Rakesh played Chakravarty aka Chakram, the cousin of the female lead, Rati Agnihotri.
