The Twilight Saga: Eclipse broke previous midnight box office records by raking in $30 million on its first night. According to Variety, the previous all-time grossing film for midnight runs was New Moon which made $26.3 million.
The film, which stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, opened in over 4,000 US locations and will expand to 4,416 today. This breaks yet another record making the film the widest domestic release in Hollywood history. The previous record was held by Iron Man 2 which was released earlier this year.
