Park Jimin from the K-pop band BTS turns 26 on Wednesday. BTS ARMY world over has already been preparing for the big day by organising fundraisers, talks on mental health, empowerment programs for the LGBTQ+ community, donations to animal shelters and street vendors and much more. Mid-day.com brings you 5 interesting facts about Jimin, also lovingly called ‘Chimchim' and ‘Baby Mochi' by BTS Army.

His grandfather named him. Jimin means 'someone whose wisdom is higher than the sky'. Jimin had shortlisted Baby J, Baby G and Young Kid as his stage names before deciding to go with his real name Jimin.

Jimin was just a 17-year-old when he made his debut with BTS, and was part of the "maknae line" (among the youngest) of the group. He is the dancer and main vocalist of the group. He was the last member to join the group, with the shortest training period.

He attended the Busan High School of Arts, where he specialised in modern dance. A dance teacher at the high school suggested he should become a K-pop star, after which he joined Big Hit Entertainment as a trainee. He then moved from Busan to Seoul and transferred to the Korean Arts High School, where he was a classmate of his now band mate V.

Jimin has black belt in taekwondo.

Jimin became the only Korean artist to top the iTunes charts with all his solo songs in Venezuela and Turkmenistan these songs including 'Filter', 'Lie', 'Serendipity' and 'Serendipity' (full-length version) and ‘Friends.'
