After more than a decade together, Friends star Courteney Cox and Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid have reportedly ended their relationship. According to multiple reports, the couple quietly parted ways late last year after realizing their lives were moving in different directions. While neither Cox nor McDaid has publicly addressed the breakup, sources close to them insist the split was amicable and free of any major conflict.

A close friend told the Mail on Sunday that the decision stemmed from the pair leading increasingly separate lives. Courteney has long been based in Los Angeles, while McDaid spends much of his time in the United Kingdom due to his music career. Despite making their long-distance relationship work for years, the geographical distance reportedly became more difficult to navigate over time.

The insider claimed there was no dramatic fallout between the two. Instead, they mutually acknowledged that they had grown apart and decided it was best to move forward independently. Even after ending their romance, they are said to have remained on good terms and continue to respect one another.

All about their relationship

Courteney and Johnny first began dating in 2013 after reportedly being introduced by singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. Their romance progressed quickly, and they announced their engagement in 2014. However, the couple called off their engagement the following year before eventually reconciling and continuing their relationship without plans to marry.

Over the years, Cox had openly discussed the challenges in their relationship, including a temporary breakup in 2015. She previously revealed that McDaid unexpectedly ended their engagement during a couples therapy session, a painful experience that ultimately helped her grow personally. The actress later described that period as transformative, saying it taught her valuable lessons about boundaries, communication and self-worth. The pair eventually reunited and often spoke warmly about one another in subsequent interviews.

The couple made their final public appearance together at the US Open in September last year. Since then, they had largely stayed out of the spotlight, fueling speculation about their relationship status. Reports now suggest McDaid has begun seeing someone new, although the relationship is believed to be in its early stages.

Although their love story has come to an end, those close to the former couple say there is no bitterness between them. Instead, they are focused on embracing the next chapter of their lives while cherishing the years they spent together.
