Dev Patel had planned a month-long schedule when he kicked off The Peasant's Mumbai leg last week. However, the actor and director called off the movie's shoot - which was being conducted in Film City, Goregaon - on February 10 after learning of a death in his family. The bereaved actor immediately rushed to London.

A source close to the production said, "The moment Dev received the news, everything else became secondary. The team understood that he needed to be with his family during this difficult time. The shoot has been paused." The unit is expected to regroup after three weeks.

The Peasant, a revenge drama set in 14th century India, is Patel's second directorial venture after the widely acclaimed Monkey Man (2024). He not only stars in it, but has also co-written it.
