Tweets from George Michael's boyfriend Fadi Fawaz's account have claimed that the singer killed himself on Christmas Day after numerous suicide attempts.

"The only thing George wanted is to die. He tried numbers of times to kill himself many times and finally he managed," the tweet read. The account was closed soon after and no official comment was made by Fadi, who had been with the singer since 2009.

Speculations were rife that the account belonging to Fadi, who had used the same handle to tweet about the singer's death a few days ago, was hacked, give that Michael's surname was spelt incorrectly.

Now, he has confirmed that his account was indeed hacked. "I am shocked with what's going on with the Twitter thing. My Twitter account has been hacked and closed.

It's a bit scary to be honest. I did not send those tweets. I woke up at 11.30 am to the news," he stated to a daily. Recent reports suggested that the singer was struggling to cope with the fact that his singing ability had been impaired by the bout of pneumonia he contracted in 2011.
