Hollywood celebs who went too personal on social media

Many celebrities go overboard while giving their fans an insight into their personal lives on public platforms. We point out a few cases

Paris Hilton, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus

On February 13, Robbie Williams posted a nude picture of himself - with his hands covering his modesty - on Instagram to celebrate his 41st birthday and captioned it: 'Do you think my bell-end can #BreakTheInternet on my birthday?' Needless to say the actor, who already has 1,62,000 followers on Instagram and 2.4 million on Twitter, grabbed many eyeballs. With this shot, Williams became one of the several celebrities to give out unnecessary/excessive information on social media.

While many argue that it's a brand-building exercise, others feel that posting regularly on social media is the 'cool' thing to do. It's ironical how celebrities today often complain about lack of privacy but don't hesitate while posting pictures or share too many details of their lives on virtual space. We tell you about a few celebrities who often cross that line on public platforms:

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton is probably the only celebrity whose selfies are at par with her puppy pictures. Anyway, like the other celebrities on the list, she uses social media for announcing every little thing that happens in her life.

Rihanna

She sure knows how to use social media to her advantage and keeps her fans updated about her music videos through her Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. However, when it comes to sharing other aspects of her life, you will find pictures of her cleavage, a parlour appointment, her niece, a night out, a half-eaten cheesecake - basically pictures of her every move flood the online space.

Madonna

Madonna bore the brunt of going overboard on social media when in January this year she received a lot of backlash for altering pictures of iconic figures to match the artwork for her album Rebel Heart. However, the singer continues to post pictures that are way over the top.

Katy Perry

An online survey revealed that Katy Perry dominated social media in 2014. It took into account stars' followers across 12 social networks and she earned 24.7 million Facebook likes, 27 million Twitter followers and 9.5 million Instagram followers. That's a lot right? But she still wants the world to know more about her.

Kim Kardashian

When she kisses Kanye, we know. When she gets daughter North West Valentine's Day boots, we know. When she tries a new look, we know the brands she is wearing. With millions of followers on Instagram and Twitter, it wouldn't be incorrect to say that Kim uses the digital medium for almost everything.

Miley Cyrus

In an interview last year, the singer described social media as worse than drugs and said that googling yourself, Instagram and Twitter 'hurt your brain' because of the abusive comments. Despite being 'hurt', her Instagram and Twitter accounts have everything from posing nude to photo-shopped images.

James Franco

Last year, Franco created quite a stir on the Internet with his 'attempt to hook up with a 17-year-old Scottish schoolgirl' and posting an almost nude picture (which he later deleted). However, even now, his random pictures - mostly selfies - continue to crowd his accounts. Especially his selfies in bed. They are plain weird.

Nicki Minaj

With updated Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, the singer, who has several hit songs to her credit, is our official pick for the celebrity with the most number of cleavage pictures. Clearly, she swears by her assets. 'If you've got it, why not flaunt it' seems to be her mantra.

Lady Gaga

The singer, who recently got engaged to longtime boyfriend Taylor Kinney, is almost always in the news. To talk of social media, you will find all aspects of her life discussed there. From her gymming and yoga sessions to her eating habits and de-glam selfies, you can know a lot about her here.

Lindsay Lohan

On a vacation? Click a selfie. Bed time? Click a selfie. In the washroom? Click a selfie. On a holiday with friends? Click a selfie. Bought new shoes? Click a picture. Getting make-up done? Click a selfie. Lohan seems to be going the selfie way and clicks pictures for almost every occasion.
