"We are excited to see our fans again," says Andrew Taggart, one half of the American DJ-duo, The Chainsmokers, last seen in India in 2014. Arriving early September, the Grammy Award-winners behind hits like Closer and Don't Let Me Down hope to savour Indian food on this trip.

"WE love Indian food. Unfortunately, we don't get to travel to India often. It's a special place," says Taggart, who will perform in Mumbai along with partner Alex Pall.

The Chainsmokers will be in India for three days and are expected to go sightseeing around Mumbai and Delhi. "Unfortunately, it's not a long trip, but we are going to make the most of it. We are coming with our team, which includes a couple of good friends. We want to enjoy every second we spend in India," says Pall.

For the musicians, the love that they receive from their fans is special. "Indian fans are engaging and supportive. Elsewhere, they tend to be more critical. They can be quite nasty," says Taggart.

mid-day had previously reported that Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Malaika Arora are expected to turn up at the September 7 gig, while Priyanka Chopra, who collaborated with the duo on the single, Erase, in 2012, may join them on stage. But, Pall is quick to evade discussion around the line-up, saying, "We don't know any details yet. But as far as a collaboration goes, you never know." An association with Indian musicians is likely, given that speculations suggest the duo have meetings lined up with Indian artistes during their stay.

Interestingly, their love for India hasn't translated into a deeper knowledge of Indian music. "We don't mean to sound ignorant, but we need someone to break it [Indian music] down for us. Maybe, when we visit India, you can share some suggestions," Taggart signs off.

The Mumbai gig will be followed by an act in Delhi the next day. Their performance comes as part of the headlining act for Road To Ultra India, the Indian edition of Ultra Worldwide.
