Inde Navarrette reveals the most frightening scene of Obsession

Curry Barker's horror film Obsession, starring Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston, will start streaming on the Peacock Hub on JioHotstar from 30th October 2026. Before its OTT release, Inde talks openly about the film's most frightening scene and the unsettling visual concept behind it.

Inde admitted that she finds the bedroom-set scene difficult to watch. In the scene, Inde, as Nikki, was shown hiding in the corner of the room while Bear was sleeping. The scene scared not only the viewers but Inde as well. She said, "This is the scariest part of the film. I refuse to watch this scene. I was looking at the corner. I was like, I know what we're talking about, but yeah, this is the uncanny valley makeup."

When explaining the thought behind that frightening look, Inde credits director Curry Barker for drawing on the concept of the uncanny valley, a psychological phenomenon in which something looks almost human but has subtle differences that make it appear unnatural. She elaborated, "Curry had the idea of kind of playing with that part of your brain when something looks human, but there's a part of your brain that recognises that it's not, and that is called the uncanny valley."

Inde Navarrette recalls transformation for the scene

Makeup artist Kate Oja curated the look, and her work highlighted particular facial features to bring an inhuman appearance. Drawing inspiration from the aesthetic linked to 'Joker', Inde hailed the transformation and added, "And Kate Oja, who is the makeup artist for this, really did a good job because it's terrifying. We, in a Joker-esque way, emphasised the lining of my lips and just kind of exaggerated certain features to give it this inhuman aspect. So we put black around my pupils to emphasise the eyes and just kind of all of the little lines in my face."

Obsession streams on the Peacock Hub on JioHotstar in India on 30th October.
