J-Hope's real name is Jung Ho-seok and he was born in Gwangju, He started out as a street dancer who worked towards being a rapper, producer and songwriter before making it big as a K-pop star.

While J-Hope didn’t make it at JYP, where he had initially auditioned, the sixteen-year-old dancer passed his audition with Big Hit Entertainment and joined BTS. However, it wasn't an easy ride, at one point a discouraged J-Hope decided to leave the group. It was only after the youngest member Jungkook cried to make him stay that J-Hope decided to stay on.

J-Hope suffered a lot of injuries in the initial days that even led him to collapsing from exhaution but he had to put up with the pressure being the main dancer of the group.

J-Hope was also consious of his looks as he would not recieve the amount of fanmail the 'visual members' of the group recieved. Sometimes he got none at all. The rapper overcame that phase of low confidence with some help from his roommate Jimin and the other members.

Today, J-Hope also known as Hobi, is known as 'Sunshine' by fans for radiating positive energy and his infectious laughter. He went on to become one of the most loved K-pop idols with a fanbase worldwide.
