Ram Charan's Peddi has emerged as a box office success by minting over Rs 400 crore. To celebrate the milestone, the team organized a success meet in Hyderabad, which was attended by Chiranjeevi. While he praised his son and the crowd rooted for him, he lost his cool at the audience for interrupting him and told them to be patient.
At one moment, fans continued hooting and cheering while the megastar was addressing them. In order to calm them, he schooled them and said, "Please wait a minute. Please listen responsibly. Whatever I am saying will motivate you. Please stand patiently. Thank you very much," he told the crowd.
Once the audience settled down, Chiranjeevi went on to praise Ram Charan's Peddi. He said, "We saw Charan's magnificent performance in Rangasthalam and thought it would take a long time for another such role to come along. Films like Magadheera, Rangasthalam, and RRR are rare. Yet, it was astonishing to see another great role like Peddi arrive within just three years. It is truly Charan's good fortune to have landed this role. We need more films like this. The industry must flourish, and theatres must buzz with activity. Peddi stands as a great success in that direction."
At the event, the actor also revealed that his daughter now addresses him as Peddi after watching the film. "My little one, Klin Kaara, used to call me nanna till the film was released. She now says, âEy, Peddi.' When I tell her not to address me like that, she calls me Peddi nanna. So, even she has forgotten me."
Reacting to the backlash over the film, he said, "No matter who said what and no matter what reviews were written⦠this film is truly not ours; it belongs to the audience," said the actor. He also thanked them for their reviews of the film after watching it and for focusing on the positives. "I still thank everyone, from big channels to small reviewers, from the bottom of my heart," added Ram.
Peddi is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and stars Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani. Several scenes in Peddi featuring Janhvi Kapoor faced strong criticism from both audiences and reviewers. The romantic storyline, in particular, was criticised for allegedly normalising harassment and non-consensual behaviour. In light of the backlash, the film's director issued a clarification on social media.
