Jailer 2 action director breaks silence on rumours of using Mohanlal's body double in climax

Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer 2 has been creating history at the box office since its release. While Rajinikanth fans have been loving the film, it has left the fans of Malayalam star Mohanlal fuming. While many have been complaining of the superstar's short runtime in the film, several theories have been doing the rounds about Mohanlal using a body double to shoot key scenes. Amid the rumours and controversy, the film's action director, Chethan Ramshi D'Souza, and Mohanlal's body double, Jobi Kodakara, have now reacted.

Jailer 2 action director dismisses Mohanlal's body double claims

Action director Chethan recently dropped a joint post with cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the latter for making his work look so good on screen in Jailer 2. Below his post, a fan questioned the action director about the body double controversy, writing, "Sir, 2 doubts. Why mohanlal sir intro is trimmed i hope there are quite scenes of stars are trimmed and other question in the car scene does mohanlal acted in the scene or dupe. There is a circulation regarding dupe acting in the scene."

Although Chethan did not respond to the first part of the question, he dismissed rumours about the second part, saying, "It's him."

Mohanlal's body double clarifies

Similarly, Jobi, who claims to have worked as a stand-in for Mohanlal in Rajinikanth's film, has clarified which scenes he shot. While appearing on the Jango Space YouTube channel, Jobi stated that his contribution was only for a few shots involving his hands and legs.

Jobi explained, "Only one or two shots featuring me have been used in the film, to be honest, only parts of my hands and legs are visible. These appear in the airport scene during the climax. There is a shot of someone changing gears while driving, and another showing someone pressing the accelerator." He added, "That's all. They are among the finest actors in the world, so perhaps I was brought in due to schedule or time constraints. My face has not been shown anywhere. The face that people claim is shown in the climax isn't mine. I am certain about that." He also admitted that the only mistake he had made was posting pictures from the film's set.

For the unversed, rumours about the Jailer 2 climax featuring Jobi or AI, not Mohanlal, intensified after the body double shared pictures on his social media from the set, where he is seen dressed exactly like Mohanlal. The much-talked-about climax scene features Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff together. Similarly, there is another scene featuring only Mohanlal, which has also become a bone of contention.
