Rajinikanth is all set to smash records with his much-awaited film Jailer 2, which is scheduled to hit theatres on October 15. However, reports claiming that the film's Hindi version would not release in national multiplex chains sparked speculation among fans. Putting the rumours to rest, the makers have issued an official clarification, confirming that the Hindi version will arrive in cinemas.
The makers have now released a statement and rubbished the rumours. They have confirmed that the Hindi version will arrive in cinemas on October 15, 2026, as originally planned.
The statement read, "In light of recent media reports suggesting that Jailer 2 will not be releasing in Hindi, we would like to officially clarify that the film's Hindi version is scheduled for a theatrical release on Thursday, 15th October 2026, alongside its other language versions, as originally planned."
It further continued, "There has been no change to the scheduled Hindi theatrical release. We request all media publications and platforms to take note of this clarification and refrain from circulating any unverified information regarding the film's release. We appreciate the media's continued support and cooperation."
According to SCREEN, the Hindi version of Jailer 2 will not release in national multiplex chains such as PVR INOX and Cinepolis, but will be available in other theatres. Sun Pictures has reportedly struck a deal with a major OTT platform to stream the film in all languages within a four-week window after its theatrical release. Since Hindi films typically require an eight-week gap between theatrical and OTT releases, the makers have decided to premiere all versions on streaming on the same day in November.
Rajinikanth returns as the lead in Jailer 2, along with Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik, who will reprise their roles from the first instalment. The upcoming sequel will also see the addition of several actors to its cast, including S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna.
Helmed by Nelson, Jailer 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on October 15, 2026, coinciding with the festive window of Dussehra 2026. A few days ago, the film was cleared by the CBFC with a U/A certificate ahead of its release.
