The wait for Rajinikanth's much-awaited film Jailer 2 is finally over. Sun Pictures officially announced the release date of Jailer 2, amid much speculation and anticipation. Ever since the sequel to the 2023 film was announced, fans have been counting down the days for the return of superstar Rajinikanth. With the date now locked in, the excitement surrounding the film has only grown stronger.
Sun Pictures took to their social media to make the announcement of the release date with an action-packed clip. In the caption of the announcement read, "Alappara Kelappurom! Jailer2 storms into theatres worldwide on October 15 Jailer2FromOct15 ".
The power-packed teaser announcing the release date shows glimpses of all the actors, including Rajinikanth, without revealing much about the plot. Although Rajinikanth's face as Tiger is hidden, the teaser hints that he is set to take on a major challenge.
Given that the film has locked October 15 as its release date, Jailer 2 is all set to lock horns with Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh's thriller, Raftaar, which is releasing on October 16. Additionally, Jailer 2 is scheduled to arrive at the box office when Drishyam 3 Hindi, releasing on October 2, will already be running in cinemas and will be in its second week.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is a sequel to 2023's superhit film Jailer. The action grossed over Rs 604.50 crore worldwide and went on to become one of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of the year. As a result, the expectations for the sequel are quite high.
Interestingly, this time around, the makers have brought together a much bigger ensemble for the sequel. While Rajinikanth is returning as the fearless Muthuvel Pandian, Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar and Malayalam star Mohanlal are also set to make a return, expanding the prison established in the first film.
The cast also includes S.J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishnan and Mirnaa Menon. Another major highlight of Jailer 2 is Vidya Balan, who will make her Tamil cinema debut with the film. Besides, it is also believed that Hrithik Roshan will have a cameo in the actioner.
