Vijay's last film, Jana Nayagan, has been in limbo for over six months due to delays in obtaining its CBFC certification. Amid the prolonged delay, a fake censor certificate surfaced online, claiming the film had been cleared with an A certificate. The post was later debunked, with the makers confirming that certification is still awaited.

Jana Nayagan CBFC certificate leaked?

A fan account posted a 'censor certificate' for Jana Nayagan on Saturday, claiming that the movie had received an A certificate after several modifications. However, the same account later confirmed that the post was fake and that the movie still awaits certification. Meanwhile, KVN Productions confirmed to SCREEN that the Central Board of Film Certification recently completed its review of the film and sent the makers a list of final revisions. Certification is expected once the changes are made and the revised version is approved by the board.

About Jana Nayagan delay

For the uninitiated, the film had generated huge interest as it was Vijay's last film as an actor before he turned full-time politician. It was originally scheduled for release during the Pongal festival in January this year. However, it got delayed after it failed to secure CBFC certification. The final certification process was held up in legal proceedings, preventing the film from reaching cinemas. The delay in certification is due to a complaint alleging that the film depicts religious sentiments and the armed forces in an objectionable manner.

Meanwhile, KVN Productions approached the Madras High Court seeking faster clearance ahead of the planned release. As per the latest development in the row, Vijay has reportedly asked the production house, KVN Productions, to refund distributors who have now been waiting for months.

Amid the delay, the film was also leaked online in HD. The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing eventually arrested 16 people in connection with the case, with investigators identifying a freelance assistant editor as the person who had allegedly accessed the footage without authorisation at an editing studio and circulated a complete copy online. The leak sparked shock and anger among fans and members of the film industry.

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan boasts a powerful ensemble cast featuring Vijay, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
