Celebrity MasterChef Tamil was announced by the makers on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with Samantha Ruth Prabhu set to headline the celebrated culinary format for Tamil audiences. It will stream on Sony VIZHA and Sony LIV. The show brings together the irresistible worlds of celebrity, food and competition. It will see some of Tamil entertainment's most recognisable faces step into the kitchen, as they face demanding culinary challenges, unexpected twists and the pressure of making dishes that win both the challenge and the audience.
Produced by Banijay Asia, Celebrity MasterChef Tamil brings the global legacy of the MasterChef format to the Tamil audience with an experience that is unmistakably Tamil, with local flavours, familiar personalities, and the unique chemistry of Tamil celebrity culture at its heart.
Speaking about the show, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is expecting her first child said, "I'm incredibly excited to finally share this with everyone. Celebrity MasterChef Tamil is unlike anything I've done before, and that's exactly what made it impossible to say no. Food has a wonderful way of bringing people together, creating memories, and revealing a side of you that the cameras don't usually get to see. What I'm most excited about is watching some of our favourite Tamil celebrities' step into the kitchen, take risks, make mistakes, surprise themselves, and compete with a lot more passion than you'd expect! Samantha recently confirmed that she is expecting her first child with her filmmaker husband, Raj Nidimoru. Addressing the media during the success meet of her latest release 'Maa Inti Bangaaram', Samantha revealed that she will be taking a maternity break after wrapping up her present professional commitments.
"After Maa Inti Bangaaram, I will have to take a small break, given my condition. I'll have to take maternity leave. After that, I'll be back with another film for my fans," Samantha was heard saying during the event. The speculations around Samantha's pregnancy started doing the rounds after her appearance at the success celebration of 'Maa Inti Bangaaram'.
The netizens noticed Samantha's baby bump after the 'Kushi' actress made an appearance in a fitted white bodycon top paired with blue denim.
If the reports are to be believed, Samantha and Raj are expected to welcome their little bundle of joy in December this year.
For those who do not know, Samantha tied the knot with filmmaker Raj Nidimoru, one-half of the acclaimed director duo Raj & DK, in December last year.
