The Paradise box office collection: Nani-starrer breaks Baahubali's record despite mixed reviews

Nani-starrer The Paradise has taken an impressive start at the box office despite underwhelming reviews. The high-octane action entertainer has scored the biggest opening of Nani's career and has surpassed the records of some all-time Telugu and Hindi blockbusters. The film had a solid start in both India and overseas, largely due to its original Telugu version.

On Wednesday, the Nani-starrer earned Rs 11.60 crore in paid previews, one of the biggest in any film this year. Then, on Thursday, The Paradise raked in Rs 34.60 crore net to its haul. With this, its domestic opening-day haul has reached Rs 46 crore net, and India's gross collection stands at Rs 55 crore. This is undoubtedly one of Nani's best in his career. However, the film's Tamil and Hindi versions failed to leave a mark, collectively collecting Rs 4 crore net so far and leaving the Telugu version to do all the work.

Overseas, The Paradise began on a stellar note, earning $2 million in international markets through paid previews and opening day collections. With this, the film's worldwide collection stands at nearly Rs 75 crore. Prior to The Paradise, the biggest opening of Nani's career was HIT 3, which earned Rs 40 crore on day 1.

The Paradise beats Baahubali, War

With the Rs 75-crore start, The Paradise has managed to surpass the two big blockbusters- Baahubali: The Beginning ( Rs 73 crore) and War ( Rs 74 crore), as reported by Hindustan Times. This film is yet to beat Stree 2, which earned around Rs 80 crore worldwide on its opening day.

The film revolves around a tribe named Savaari from the fictional place The Paradise, who fight to earn legal recognition from the government. They are also trapped under the control of a feudal lord who takes advantage of them.
