Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay, is currently gearing up for his political debut ahead of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election. Amid buzz around his final film release and his personal life, the actor has been in the headlines after his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam reportedly filed for divorce. In her petition, she alleged that Vijay was involved in an extramarital affair with an actress.
Days after the petition went viral, Vijay made a public appearance with Trisha Krishnan. The two have been rumoured to be dating for a long time. Their joint appearance was viewed by many as a statement about their relationship.
Vijay celebrated his 50th birthday on June 22, 2024, and will turn 51 this June. Meanwhile, Trisha will turn 43 on May 4, 2026. The duo share an age gap of eight years.
Vijay and Trisha have shared the screen in several popular films over the years. They worked together in the action drama Thirupaachi, which performed strongly at the box office, followed by Aathi, further strengthening their popularity as an on-screen pair.
After nearly 15 years, the duo reunited in Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Their reunion in the film generated nostalgia among fans who had grown up watching their earlier collaborations.
Recently, Vijay attended the wedding reception of producer Kalapathy Suresh's son in Chennai. What caught everyone's attention was that he was accompanied by Trisha. The two were seen twinning in off-white traditional outfits. Vijay wore an off-white shirt paired with a veshti, while Trisha looked elegant in a similar-coloured saree with a red blouse.
Vijay, who is also the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is currently facing divorce proceedings after Sangeetha reportedly filed a petition in the Chengalpattu family court.
The petition comes amid reports that Sangeetha has been living separately from the actor. According to the filing, she accused Vijay of infidelity, alleging that he was involved in an "adulterous relationship" with an actress.
The petition reportedly states that in April 2021, Sangeetha discovered the alleged relationship, which caused her "deep emotional pain and mental suffering," amounting to betrayal and a violation of marital trust. It further claims that Vijay continued to publicly associate with the said actress, causing emotional distress and embarrassment to their children.
