Actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Lopamudra Raut faced a theft at her house when valuables worth Rs 1 crore were reportedly stolen from her Mumbai home in July 2026. The man accused of stealing valuables was arrested in Darbhanga, Bihar, on Saturday. The Santacruz police traced and arrested the accused, Chandan Mukhiya, a resident of Goth Mitti village in Darbhanga district, with the help of the local police.

About the theft at Lopamudra Raut's home

According to the police, Mukhiya had allegedly entered Raut's house through a ventilator in July after first conducting a recce of the property. The police added that he had been scouting locked houses across Mumbai. During one such recce, Mukhiya allegedly spotted Raut's Santacruz residence and returned later when he found an opportunity to break in.

According to The Times of India report, the incident occurred when Raut was not present in the apartment after she went to her hometown in Nagpur on July 20. The actress learnt about the theft only when she returned to her home located on Juhu Tara Road in Santacruz (West) on July 27. When she returned at around 2 PM, she found she was unable to open the door since it was locked from inside. Police revealed that she immediately alerted her flat owner, who told her that he would call a keysmith to break the lock. However, Raut told the flat owner that she would go to the Santacruz police station and return with the cop.

The complaint by Raut reportedly read, "A constable, Patil, who accompanied me along with the two building staff tried to unlock the door but they too failed. Then we sent one of the building staff, Shaifullah Shaikh, to enter the flat through the balcony, which he noticed was broken. He unlocked the door, and I found my bedroom ransacked with my money and gold valuables stolen from the locker after breaking the cupboard."

Accused arrested from Bihar

Based on Raut's complaint, DCP (West Zone-2) Mohit Garg supervised multiple teams to crack down the case. Police shared that the accused was identified and tracked through technical analysis of Mukhiya's registered mobile number, which positioned him at the scene of the crime on the night of July 14, thus confirming his involvement.

Police team travelled to Darbhanga and, with the assistance of the local Sonki Police Station, tracked down and arrested Mukhiya on Saturday.

Raut told The Times of India, "I applaud the Mumbai police who have speeded up the case and nabbed the thief. Still It is a long way; I have complete faith and trust in the Mumbai police in getting back my stolen property."
