After winning Bigg Boss 19, Gaurav Khanna is all set to take on a new challenge with Khatron Ke Khiladi 15. In an exclusive chat with Mid-day, the actor spoke candidly about why he chose the show, what excites him about it, and the role his close friend Faisal Shaikh played in encouraging him.
Calling the stunt-based reality show a "completely different ball game," Gaurav stressed that it isn't just about physical strength. "Contrary to what people believe, this is not only about physicality," he shared, explaining that while contestants are pushed into intense and often fear-inducing situations, the real challenge lies in mental strength. According to him, the ability to stay calm, focused and mentally resilient is just as important as physical endurance.
A major factor behind his decision was the opportunity to work with filmmaker and host Rohit Shetty. Gaurav revealed that he had always wanted to be part of a season hosted by Rohit Shetty, as interacting with him brings a unique energy and offers valuable learning experiences. "I'm someone who loves learning new things," he said, adding that he hopes to discover more about himself through the journey.
Interestingly, Khatron Ke Khiladi had long been on his bucket list, but he did not expect the opportunity to come immediately after Bigg Boss 19. Despite the quick transition, he sees it as the perfect chance to push his limits and evolve further, both personally and professionally.
Speaking about the competition, Gaurav acknowledged that contestants who have done similar shows before might have a slight advantage. However, he maintained that it's not unfair. "They are coming again, so they will have to prove themselves again," he said, adding that he shares a friendly bond with most participants and looks forward to reconnecting with them. For him, the competitive spirit is what makes the show exciting, especially with the buzz around its milestone 15th season.
He also opened up about the unwavering support from Faisal Shaikh, popularly known as Faisu. Gaurav revealed that Faisu has believed in him since his MasterChef days and was among the first to encourage him to participate in Bigg Boss and later Khatron Ke Khiladi. Despite initial hesitation, Gaurav said his friend's confidence pushed him to take the leap.
"Even if things don't work out, at least there won't be regret that I didn't try," he concluded, summing up his mindset as he prepares for yet another high-stakes reality show journey.
