Actor Karishma Tanna, who is blessed with her first child (baby boy) with husband Varun Bangera, has opened up about why she initially hesitated to embrace motherhood. The actress revealed that global uncertainty and the state of the world made her question whether it was the right time to bring a child into it, despite always knowing that she wanted to become a mother someday.
Speaking candidly about her pregnancy journey with Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi, Karishma admitted that she had several fears before deciding to start a family. She said news about wars, violence and unrest across the world often left her wondering if it was fair to raise a child in such an environment.
"There were wars happening. There was so much negativity around. I kept wondering if this was the right world to bring a baby into," she shared, explaining the thoughts that delayed her decision.
The Scoop actress also revealed that she never felt pressured by the idea of a biological clock. Instead of rushing into motherhood because of societal expectations, she chose to wait until she felt emotionally and mentally ready for the responsibility.
"I never felt that my biological clock was ticking. I wanted it to happen naturally, when I truly felt prepared," Karishma said, adding that motherhood should be a personal decision rather than one driven by external pressure.
Karishma credited her husband, businessman Varun Bangera, for being a constant source of support throughout her pregnancy. She said he has stood by her during every emotional moment, making the experience more joyful and reassuring.
The actress also shared that she is consciously trying to enjoy every phase of her pregnancy instead of worrying about how life will change after the baby's arrival. While she acknowledges that becoming a mother will bring new responsibilities, she believes it will not stop her from pursuing her career.
"I want to enjoy my pregnancy. I don't want to constantly think about how everything will change. Life will go on, and being a mother is a beautiful part of a woman's life," she said.
Now in the final stage of her pregnancy, Karishma said she feels grateful for the journey and is looking forward to welcoming her little one. She also believes that women can strike a balance between their personal and professional lives without having to choose one over the other.
Karishma and Varun, who tied the knot in February 2022, announced their pregnancy earlier this year with a heartfelt social media post, describing their child as their "little miracle." They welcomed their baby boy on the auspicious day of Guru Purnima on 29th July 2026.
